The third qualifying round of the All-Russian bowling championship among the regional partners of MERLION has been held in Kazan on 9 September 2011. The venue for the events was a bowling club, which boasts of a professional equipment for world championship games. This time, the competitions were held with support from LG. And this is apparently not surprising, as the LG logo is so reminiscent of a bowling ball coated with a stylized image of a smiling human face.

At the start of the event, the master of ceremonies introduced all present with representatives of the organizers MERLION and LG.
Dolotov Anton, the company’s manager of business development, opened the working part of the event with a presentation devoted to the development of MERLION in 2010. Then Radik Nurgaleev, a senior manager working with key partners, LG, took over the floor. He presented new products and outlined trends for development of a range of LG monitors. He noted that the company has established a special prize for the best player in the tournament - LG monitor.

8 teams of regional representatives of IT-companies responded to MERLION's appeal to roll balls. Gambling battles on the bowling lanes were preceded by verbal battles: the participants chose the names of their teams. Many of the names speak for themselves. For example, what do you think of such names as "Bystrye Belki" (Fast squirrels), Kazanskie Kataly" (Kazan Katale) and "Surovye Pertsy" (Severe peppers)?
Statistics of recent sporting achievements
Sports luck smiled at the "Region 16" team, which became a favorite of the league. The team gathered 1313 points, double baker's dozen! Yeah rare case when the number 13 was twice a lucky number! The "Kazanskie Kataly" (1226 points) was slightly behind the leader, the "Bystrye Belki" came third gaining 1175 points. It may be noted that the game of the leaders of the championship was held under the motto "Faster. Clearer. More precisely" and that paid off.
"Lyudi v cheshkah" (Men in gym shoes) and "Pyatero v Lodke" (Five in a boat) won no trophies but had the intention of winning since the amount of points gained by the teams exceeded one thousand. Behind them in the standings were "Logs-Swingers" (Brevna-Svingery) and "Surovye Pertsy" with more modest performances (952 and 904 points respectively).
The "Anomalny Planetary" (Anomalous planetarium) team closed the tournament table with a result different from rivals. Apparently, there is simply no place for abnormal phenomena in an atmosphere of competition, which, however, did not affect the good mood of the team.
Separate congratulations to the best player in the evening - Renat Badrutdinov from the winning team (203 points), who received an LG monitor for a great sporting tone.
There was only one medal for women's performance. Elena Shoreeva of the "Bystrye Belki" team, who scored 103 points in the individual standings, won the medal. Some teams found it difficult to demonstrate a competitive advantage in this field, because most of them had no females.
Participants with the highest number of strikes per game also received prizes. Here again, the favorite of the evening Renat Badrutdinov excelled. He knocked out the maximum number of strikes (6) and Roman Chugreev of the "Surovye Pertsy" team was the first to gather 3 strikes in a row.
The organizers also gave prizes to players who achieved "the most dubious achievements in bowling".
The teams celebrated their sports results at the closing banquet.
In the home stretch
So, the "Region 16" team made it to the home stretch leading to the capital final. Their balls rolled to Moscow, and now the team will clash with other winners of qualifying games.
The IT-bowling tournament continues since this game is just an intermediate milestone on the way to the final. The last pin has not been brought down, and the tournament is not yet over. So see you at the tracks in Krasnodar!
