“Creative Companies Club in Chelyabinsk”: “In Focus” for the victory.

BenQ, Lenovo, Microsoft, Intel, AOC, Kingmax and HP became partners for the Chelyabinsk qualification finals.

On October 21, Chelyabinsk held the qualification finals for MERLION’s partners in the Creative Companies Club. The event was visited by over 30 representatives of the region’s key businesses. Following the extensive and eventful official part that welcomed seven large software and IT equipment manufacturers, the participants divided into teams. Further events followed in a rapid succession: the game was the most dynamic of all the qualification stages. Looking ahead, we must note that the three leading teams would finish quite narrowly in this intellectual competition.

The informal part was opened with the spectacular performance by the members of Chelyabinsk bartender association. The teams, inspired by the breathtaking show, came up with creative names like Swindlers, Stern Cheburashkas, Crispies, In Focus, Ice-Scream and Mish-Mash. Then the intellectual battle ensued…

The teams competed in solving logical puzzles, excelled in creative contests, - all that with infinite energy and at a sweeping rate. This magnificent event was organized by MERLION, Russia’s leading distributor of computer and digital equipment. The partners of Chelyabinsk qualification finals were the world’s leading computer equipment and accessories: BenQ, Lenovo, Microsoft, Intel, AOC, Kingmax and HP.

The club session was started by MERLION representatives. Evgeny Yanovsky, MERLION’s business development manager, opened the official part of the event by speaking on the company’s hot new products and its key development trends in his report, “MERLION: 2010 results and growth points.”

Next to speak were vendors’ representatives:

  • Vadim Khomyakov, partners manager at BenQ, presented a report, “BenQ LCD displays and projectors. New products and technologies in 2011.”
  • Allison Wuu, sales manager at Kingmax, discussed key trends in the company’s policy in the presentation “KINGMAX product solutions.”
  • Aleksey Zhatkin, PC suppliers manager at Microsoft, presented a report,“Office 2010 – licensing and marketing.”
  • Eduard Golyamov, distributors manager at Intel, shed a light on topical issues in the presentation “Intel: 2011 technologies.”
  • Dmitry Balabayev, Lenovo regional representative, presented the report “Lenovo’s current product line.”
  • Andrey Samoylov, business development manager at AOC, offered the presentation “Your success with AOC – displays for your business.”
  • Sergei Nikolayev, coach at HP Russia’s department of printing systems and image processing, concluded the official part of the meeting with the report “HP wireless printing technologies. HP inkjet and laser printer product line.”

Many speeches touched upon debatable issues, which were actively discussed by the participants. Those who came up with the best questions were awarded with memorabilia from the partners. Even the coffee break was used in a very productive way in this event. Kingmax representatives would not waste time and did a product demonstration testing at the break. A Kingmax memory module was tried in a most unusual way: by dipping in boiling water, sugar and lemon added, and brewing it like a tea bag. To the participants’ utter surprise, the card passed all the wear tests and continued to work perfectly after drying. It really did go through fire and water! Hail to Kingmax memory modules’ immortality, envied by its competitors!

Next in the testing line was the human will to win. The referees were represented by vendors, as some questions demanded the knowledge of their companies’ names, logos, slogans and, surely, products. The intellectual “shootout” among the six teams kept both the team members and the coordinators in suspense for nearly two hours. The question of who would participate in the final event in Moscow to compete for the first prize and the status of The Most Creative IT Company in Russia remained open until the very last moment.

The test for intellectual and creative prowess was passed by every team; however, three of those were in the lead. The first prize was taken by the intellectual and creative leaders, In Focus, who scored the record 111 points. They really were luck’s focus of attention that day. Stern Cheburashkas showed a very strong performance and closed the game with only a couple of points short of victory. In their turn, they were closely followed by the cold-blooded players in the Ice-scream team that was the third to finish. The bronze winners lost very few point to their rivals, with the final score of 108.

The leaders were awarded prizes in the end of the game. The regional finals winners solemnly received the true intellectual expertise symbols: a traditional cake by the Creative Companies Club and a ticket to Moscow.
