MERLION “Club of Creative Companies” – a new format of annual meetings with partners

At the end of February 2011, Perm hosted the first stage of an exciting scientific and educational game “Club of Creative Companies” organized by MERLION, the leading distributor of computer equipment. The company’s partners were delighted to demonstrate their erudition and creative approach in solving various intellectual tasks.

MERLION “Club of Creative Companies”On February 28, 2011, Perm hosted the first stage of an exciting scientific and educational game “Club of Creative Companies” organized and founded by MERLION, the leading distributor of computer equipment. Companies from various Russian regions which have the status of official MERLION partners are invited to participate in the intellectual game “Club of Creative Companies”. The game consists of several regional stages; on each stage, the game will be played under the flag of leading computer equipment manufacturers. During the year, games in the “Club of Creative Companies” will be held in Ufa, Samara, Voronezh, Stavropol, Chelyabinsk, and Chita. The Grand Finals of the event are to be held in Moscow at the end of the year. The winning team will be recognized as the most intellectual computer crew among MERLION’s partners and, apart from the cash prize, will be awarded Diplomas of Academics of the “Club of Creative Companies”, while the best player will be awarded with a Large Chrystal Globe.

The first regional elimination round of the game was held at “Shake Club”, a night club in Perm. The stage was sponsored by INTEL, Lenovo and Samsung. Prior to the start of the battle, both the guests and the tournament participants watched presentations of the sponsor companies. The official part was opened by Yulia Pechnikova, manager of MERLION’s Business Development Department, with her report entitled “MERLION: 2010 results, growth points”. The report was followed by presentations of vendor representatives who spoke to MERLION’s partners about the latest interesting innovations in the computer market. The guests learned about new products offered by INTEL, printing equipment innovations from Samsung and new laptop models from Lenovo.

After that, the participants were divided into three teams entitled “Smiley”, “Megatron” and “Drive”. As for the rules of the “Club of Creative Companies”, they are quite simple. Each game is lead by the presenter. The participants answer the questions by making team decisions; breaks may be announced during the game when a team can take a time-out and collect their thoughts. The teams receive points for correct answers to the questions. The winner of each elimination round is the team which wins the maximum number of points during one game. Each game include a range of questions in different subject areas included in the secondary school curriculum as well as questions related to the activity profiles of the participating companies, vendors and MERLION. In addition, all participants must answer some questions concerning current calendar events, former or coming state holidays, and events in the computer market. If any disagreements arise during the tournament, the presenter addressed the Expert Board consisting of representatives of MERLION and the sponsors of the intellectual tournament.

The participants of the tournament in Perm demonstrated high class while solving the creative tasks offered by the organizers. Thus, in one of the tasks, the partners had to make up words using the letters from the word ‘Processors’, to invent advertising slogans for Samsung printers and sing songs about Lenovo products. Based on the results of the game, “Smiley” was the winner with 70 points, “Megatron” was second with 67 points, and “Drive” was third (56 points). Winners of the first regional elimination round in Perm were given valuable prizes, including a large red cake with the logo of the “Club of Creative Companies”.

After the game, the participants had a chance to communicate in the casual atmosphere and to enjoy a bright barman show presented by senior barman of “Shake Club”. He spoke about the origins of various world-famous cocktails, their ingredients and the art of making drinks. MERLION’s partners witnessed an attractive and absorbing show and tried their luck in cocktail making. The best participants of the cocktail contest received memorable prizes.
