Club session held in Saint-Petersburg timed to MERLION’s regional office opening.
MERLION continues to promote the Creative Companies Club project among its partners. On October 10, the eighth regular session of the Club was held for the company’s local partners, timed to MERLION’s regional office opening.
Creative Companies Club is an insistent leisure, an unorthodox sport, even a form of tourism, to some extent, as the winners receive a ticket to the Moscow finals. Additionally, the project gives its participants a team-building opportunity. Team members learn to find an optimal solution in a limited time and with limited knowledge. They have to show their own best sides, but also use the other players’ capacities to achieve maximum results. Such skills are indispensable in IT, as well as in any other industry.
Nearly 40 representatives of the region’s key companies visited the event, which welcomed a record number of vendors for such a concept. This captivating intellectual multiathlon was organized by MERLION – the leading computer and digital equipment distributor in Russia. The Saint-Petersburg qualification was sponsored by leading computer equipment and accessories vendors: Асer, APC, BenQ, Lenovo, Netgear, Kingmax and HP.
The official part of the club session was opened by Yulia Pechnikova, head of MERLION business development department. In her speech, “MERLION: 2010 results and growth points”, she presented the company’s latest news, its developmental trends and, more importantly, introduced the team of MERLION’s Petersburg sales office, now available to all its local partners.
Next to speak were the vendors’ representatives:
After the informative official part, the participants divided into teams and demonstrated that Saint-Petersburg truly is Russia’s intellectual capital. The players were able to overcome tricky questions, creativity contests and even demonstrated their product promotion skills, all that in a limited timeframe.
Six team’s representatives contended for the highest intellectual status, with their creative potential obvious already in their teams’ names. Thus, the eighth qualification stage in Saint-Petersburg comprised Merliad, Kickback Guaranteed, Three Men at the Table, to Say Nothing of Roma, Threeways, War Hogs and Monsell.
The players showed a similar degree of creativity during the games, as well as erudition, logical thinking and sense of humor. The first puzzle part touched upon Saint-Petersburg’s history: facts, songs, famous people and historic events. Traditionally, the players also had to answer questions on vendors’ products, names and slogans.
Among others, the brightest ones were Three Men at the Table, to Say Nothing of Roma. This team took the intellectual hill with an 86-point score. War hogs also showed spectacular results in the intellectual competition, having lost only 5 point to the winners. A score of 66 points was achieved by Merliad in solving sophisticated puzzles, which ensured its place in the top three.
As always, the award procedure was the happiest part. The leading teams received prizes, while the winning team also got the traditional cake by the Creative Companies Club and a ticket to Moscow finals, which is just around the corner.
