MERLION Business Channel in the Northern Caucasus

On July 22-23, Makhachkala hosted a regional MERLION Business Channel forum. The MERLION forum in the Northern Caucasus was supported by AS, the leading IT company in the region.

Makhachkala, July 22-23, 2006 - MERLION, the leading Russian distributor of computer and digital devices, held its forth regional MERLION Business Channel forum (MBC) aimed at IT business people in the Northern Caucasus.

MERLION IT forum in the Northern Caucasus was supported by AS Company, the market leader in the region. It welcomed more than fifty representatives of thirty companies from eleven cities of the Northern Caucasus; that included Makhachkala, Urus-Martan, Kizlyar, Grozny, Kaspiysk, Sergokal, Buynaksk, Izberbash, Khasavyurt, Gudermes, and others.

The forum in Makhachkala was also backed up by the leading IT industry vendors. These are Brother, Gigabyte, Jetbalance, IPPON, and Sony.

This forum featured a well-selected range of attendees. These included AS Company, the only MERLION direct partner being present at the forum. The other participants were AS regional partners. With such a list of attendees MERLION and vendors could learn more about the character of the markets in the Northern Caucasus, Dagestan and Chechnya, as well as understand the needs of computer companies of different levels and growth prospects for the region.

The MERLION Business Channel format focuses on personal interaction. For the forum in Makhachkala, MERLION invited its team of the regional MERLION-South Office, the representatives of MERLION System Solutions, managers for such profitable product categories as digital photo and video, and the managers of MERLION’s exclusive brands.

The first meetings showed that the MERLION MBC proved to be a great opportunity for IT business reps in the Northern Caucasus to gain much-needed first-hand information about key growth trends in the IT-industry, found out about new products from manufacturer companies, and have an interactive discussion with providers and manufacturers about business cooperation.

Most attendees believe Yury Remeiko, sales support and service manager in Eastern Europe, Sony Semiconductor & Electronic Solutions Europe, to have made one of the most impressive presentations within the official part of the forum. In the informal part everybody could admire beautiful folk dancing and brightly coloured mountain landscape, as well as taste delicious Derbent Cognac.

In his closing speech, Mr. Orlov, Commercial Director of the MERLION- South regional Office, noted: "As the spring forum in Krasnodar and the first results of the forum in the Northern Caucasus have shown, MERLION’s ambitions regarding Southern Federal Russia can be perfectly fulfilled. Now we have a good idea of our partners’ needs in Southern Federal Russia. And we can offer them our wide range of services which are necessary for computer companies in the region to achieve successful business growth".
