The conference was held with the participation of Intel and Microsoft corporations, including 30 key partners of iRU –system integrators, retailers and resellers.
In late April 2018, iRU, one of the leading Russian computer manufacturers, with the participation of Intel and Microsoft, held the 2nd annual onsite conference for 30 key partners - system integrators, retailers and resellers.
At the conference, which took place in Galicia (Spain) this year, participants were discussing actual trends in the world market and in the Russian IT market, as well as newest technologies and new products, exclusive models of computers and servers developed by iRU, advantages of partnership programs and specifics for promoting iRU in-house products based on technologies offered by Intel and Microsoft.
Participants received a lot of information and facts about iRU and its products. iRU appeared in the Russian market 16 years ago. In recent years, the company has steadily entered Top 5 of Russian PC manufacturers. In 2017, the company was ranked #2 in production of nettops and #5 in production of all-in-one PCs (according to ITResearch). According to the Russian PC market review for 2014–2017, the growth of the market volume exceeded 19 % last year (according to IDC and ITResearch). The analysis of main sales channels indicates that state companies are the key clients of iRU. This proves the high quality of company's products and compliance with all requirements made by such clients.
The following iRU products were demonstrated to partners: PC series for corporate sector, server and DSS solutions based on Intel CPUs and operated by Windows. The company announced the new products such as: PC iRU with additional protection feature Fingerprint; scalable and reliable PC iRU Corp 31X/81X USFF enclosed with a multi-functional case; iRU Office J232X and iRU Nettop 317. Particular attention should be given to iRU servers. As large companies have to operate with regard to import substitution, Russian-made serves are often the only way to upgrade their hardware. iRU servers mean localization. All the servers are equipped with CPU Intel Xeon E5-2600v4 and RAM DDR4; they have a flexible configuration for easy assembly, using a wide range of components.
A new solution named “iRU Orbita” was described in detail. The project was launched in 2017 to develop an integrated monitoring and control system or a multifunctional tool to complete the following tasks:
“iRU Orbita” is designed for system administration and is represented as a web service (server and interface), which can be run anywhere on any computer. All you need is access to the Internet and a browser.
Daniil Lebedev, Intel Sales Manager, represented Intel Corporation at iRU Conference. Mr. Lebedev’s speech was delivered under the slogan “At Intel, we provide the future of computations and communications, we create things that are considered to be impossible”. Mr. Lebedev described key market trends in detail and told that Intel made strong efforts to develop these trends and might offer ready solutions concerning every trend such as: artificial intelligence and AI transformation; autonomous driving, 5G technologies; virtual worlds or VR and AR devices, which become more popular and soon will spread everywhere. Mr. Lebedev pointed out that Intel estimated the average annual growth of 58 % in sales of VR and AR devices worldwide. He also reviewed the server market in Europe and analyzed the Russian market.
Daniil Lebedev presented client-oriented solutions and a lineup developed by Intel. He announced some new models and told about the following solutions such as the 8th generation of Intel® Core™ CPUs and Intel® NUC™, the tiniest mini PC based on Intel® Core ™; Intel® Compute Card, the credit card-size computer. He reminded that iRU offers any Intel-based solutions intended for home and office applications and for gamers as well.
Natalya Shmakova, Account Manager, represented Microsoft Corporation at the conference. In her presentation titled “IT Market Trends. The Role of Local PC Manufacturers”, Natalya represented three key technologies applied to Microsoft’s current strategy such as: mixed reality, AI (artificial intelligence) and quantum computing. She pointed out that digital transformation in different fields shall touch upon different trends: not only business process, but also personnel training products and services. Speaking of capabilities for the growth of the PC market in the SMB segment, she estimated the following advantages of products developed by leading local market players, including iRU: 100 % guarantee for software licensing; special price for Windows for certain configurations and for the education sector; guaranteed compatibility and correct operation of hardware and software.
In presentation section “Windows Changes to Give Your Customers More”, Natalya told about the advantages of modern gadgets based on Windows 10, as well as about new capabilities offered by the recently announced Windows 10 update. Natalya paid particular attention to the cyber safety issue and told about new features to protect electronic devices and personal data. She suggested that partners shall prevent their customers from the use of counterfeit software and taught how to distinguish licensed products from counterfeit ones.
Speaking of company’s technologies and products, Natalya pointed out that in the VR category Intel offers Windows Mixed Reality headsets that became more available, easier in settings and supported a higher screen resolution. In addition, Natalya announced a new solution – Windows 10 Pro designed for high-performance computers (workstations) and also represented some advanced devices such as innovative workstations developed by iRU and supporting Microsoft Windows Hello – iRU Corp 310х, iRU Corp MT, iRU Office J232.
This year, iRU Conference was held in Galicia, a peculiar Spanish region near the Spanish-Portuguese border. The organizers did their best to make something special not only with regard to the official programme of the conference, but also to sightseeing. Participants visited Santiago de Compostela, the largest pilgrimage center; Vigo – the “Atlantic Gate”; Cambados, an ancient settlement known for its famous wine; Pontevedra, an old seaport founded by Teucer, hero of the Trojan War. They also visited Cape Finisterre believed to be the end of the world in the ancient times and learned the basics of the Galician cuisines.
