Laptops sales in November fail to meet expectations

According to ITResearch, laptops sales on the Russian market in November reached about 350 thousand devices, failing to meet expectations. This figure is greater than the stats for October, but less than sales in September. The annual growth was ?5 %, slumping below zero. The previous November was the best time for sales in 2016, unlike the previous December showing the slump. There’s a chance this time around the market sales in December will come back to normal and compensate these losses.

ITResearch: In October, laptop sales on the Russian market exceeded 300 thousand devices

According to ITResearch, laptop sales on the Russian market were lower in October than in September this year, although they reached about 300 thousand devices. However, in terms of the annual growth rates, the result was rather better than in two previous months, showing the growth of 9 % against ups-and-downs in August and in September.

Different projectors – different leaders

Over 20 brands are currently available on the Russian projector market. This market segment features a rather high level of concentration. According to ITResearch, the leading trio such as Acer, BenQ, and Epson permanently own over 50 % of the market share, sometimes, up to 2/3 of the market. Therefore, the Herfindahl index indicating the intensity level (about 0.14 after the first half of 2017, according to ITResearch) corresponds to the high level of market monopolization.

ITResearch: the projector market keeps growing rapidly

According to ITResearch, 13.9 thousand projectors for $12.9 mln approx. were sold on the Russian market in November 2017. The weighted average cost of a single device based on the prices offered by 10 leading brands is $860 that is a bit higher than the price per unit in October ($843), but much less than in the previous months (for example, see the data for September) when large amounts of expensive installation models were shipped (first of all, for Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light”). In comparison to October, the market growth is more than 27 %. This high growth rate has exceeded market analysts' expectations.

ITResearch: Russian PC market has grown by 10 % in Q3

According to ITResearch, about 1,580 thousand devices were sold on the Russian PC market in Q3 2017, including the laptop and desktop segments. In comparison with the similar period of 2016, the market has grown by 10 %. About 42 % of shipped products in units are related to the desktop segment. This is by 2 % higher than the amount of desktops shipped last year as the latter are restored faster that the mobile segment. Lenovo is leading on the PC market followed by Acer, Asus, Dell and HP (rated in the alphabetical order). In total, these companies have sold 64 % of all computers in Russia for the quarter period.

Russian printer market is changing

In recent years, the Russian market of printers and desktop MFPs has been showing a drop in the sales volume expressed in units. For example, 832 thousand printers and desktop MFPs were sold in the first half of 2017. This figure is less by 10.8 % than the amount sold one year ago. However, the sales volume in money terms have seen double-digit growth. Generally, for six months the sales volume in money terms has totaled $215 mln that exceeds the similar period of 2016 by 30 %. Almost all the leading vendors have drastically increased this figure for the first six months of 2017 (20 to 120 %) in comparison with the previous year.

Professional-grade display market keeps growing rapidly

According to ITResearch, 11,330 panels (LFD, high-end professional-grade displays larger than 32”, excluding computer monitors) were sold in Russia for Q3 2017. The total amount of sales is $44.36 mln. The weighted average cost of a single device has drastically grown (due to a higher sales volume of touch-screen and seamless solutions) and has reached $3,900.

Monitor market has risen due to corporate supplies

According to ITResearch, 296 thousand monitors for $47.5 mln approx. were sold in Russia in October 2017 (in ultimate prices). The weighted average cost of monitors has been reduced from $160 to $154 in comparison with September. Despite the absence of big tenders, the comprehensive sales analysis shows the business-led recovery in the corporate segment. As a result, cheap monitor models offered by tenders have caused a decrease in the weighted average cost.
