MERLION and Micromax Companies have declared about signing an exclusive distributor contract

Distributor begins to perform direct supplies of smartphones of the leading Indian manufacturer Micromax to Russia and CIS countries.

A joint conference of the biggest Russian full-range distributor, MERLION Company, and the leading Indian manufacturer of smartphones Micromax was held in Moscow on April 12. The conference was devoted to signing an agreement on the exclusive distribution, it united about 100 partners of MERLION Company (retailers and resellers, sub-distributors) and 15 journalists – representatives of the leading  sectoral media.

The conference was opened by the welcome address of Tatiana Skokova, Distribution Director of Broadline Distribution Division of MERLION Company. She pointed out the importance of closing the signed agreement and expressed confidence in the long-standing cooperation: “The name of the event, “Standing start”, has a special meaning. First of all, both companies, Micromax and MERLION occupy high positions in business: Micromax is the recognized Indian manufacturer of electronics, while MERLION is the biggest distributor in Russia. Secondly, both companies offer products and services in the sphere of high technologies. And, finally, the long-distance runners begin to race from the standing start. We are sure of the long-standing cooperation with Micromax company and we are going to achieve higher successes by joint efforts!” It is well worth adding here that the share of MERLION in the Russian market of smartphones amounts to 17 % (according to companу’s own data) and the signed agreement is a new stage for Company’s development in this direction.

Sameer Kakar, International Business Head, Micromax, presented a global development strategy, where he told about the Company’s history, production facilities and leading brand position on the market of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, positions in Russia. He pronounced the brand goal: by 2020 join the Top-5 of the world and Russian markets of smartphones (now the Company is among Top-10), and become No.1 in South Asia. He gave special attention to the issues of warranty and servicing support, which is a considerable advantage in the category of devices of a similar class.

Ramnik Kohli, General Director, Micromax Russia spoke about marketing strategy in the plans for 2018-2019, positioning and peculiarities of promoting smartphones of Micromax. He also voiced the goals: increase the depth of distribution, expanding the product line of Micromax in every retail chain; improve the width of distribution together with MERLION paying more attention to the regions; render assistance to the retail partners for increasing sales. Mr. Kohli was asked about the meaning of Micromax logo; he answered that it comprised a codified letter “М”, a bar of communication receiving level, as well as the fact that the Company was ready to behave aggressively in the market.

New smartphones of Micromax from product lines of 2018 – the elegant devices of CANVAS, CANVAS Power, CANVAS Curve, CANVAS Pace and BOLT Ultra families were presented in the framework of the conference. The novelties, apart from the excellent price, feature extended time of operation from the storage battery, while the reliability and functionality thereof are combined with an excellent external view, high-quality screen and camera. The quality of assembly guaranteed by one of the leaders of Indian electronics market, Micromax Company, has made the smartphones of this brand almost the most demanded in their country. A reasonable price brings an additional popularity to the devices both among the users and among the suppliers. The recommended retail prices* in Russia range from 3, 990 rubles for 5''-inch model Q357 and up to 9, 990 rubles for frameless 5.7''-inch smartphone C2A with finger print scanner, 13 Мpix camera and storage battery with a capacity of 4,000 mAh.
