In the second quarter, the market for printers and MFPs slowed down

According to analysts from ITResearch, the Russian market for printers and desktop MFPs slowed its growth in Q2 2018. In total, about 454 thousand devices were sold during this period, which is only 1% more than last year (in Q1 2018, the growth rate exceeded 13%). Of course, this is to some extent due to the seasonal decline in demand, although, given the dynamics of the market during the previous quarters, we could expect higher rates.

Corporate purchases of document scanners take a time out

After significant growth in the Russian market for document scanners in Q1 2018, when its quantitative volume increased by one and a half times in comparison with the beginning of the previous year, the sales trend in the second quarter was the opposite. In total, according to analysts from ITResearch, 6.4 thousand devices were sold during this period, which is 16% less than in Q2 2017. The main reason was the almost complete absence of major corporate purchases of document scanners during this period (as opposed to Q1), while a year ago such purchases accounted for a significant part of the sales of these devices.

The market for flatbed scanners again shows a decline

According to analysts from ITResearch, after the relative stability in the market of flatbed scanners for the last few quarters, the decline in sales has resumed. A little more than 13 thousand devices were sold in Q2 2018, which is 16% lower than in the same period last year. In addition to the seasonal decline in demand in mass markets, the decrease in product supply also contributed to the negative dynamics.

This year, June was worse for the laptop market than it was last year

According to analysts from ITResearch, the Russian laptop market in June was slightly larger than in May and reached 250 thousand devices. However, on an annualized basis, the market showed a significant decline of 14%. And this was the first decline in annual rates since the beginning of 2018. This likely owes to the fact that in market terms the second quarter of this year is different from Q2 2017. Moreover, June 2017 was a month of exceptional breakthrough and became the most dynamic month of last year. As for this year, May showed unexpectedly good results, and in June, the market just calmed down, thus posting a negative trend.

The projector market is recovering faster than expected

According to preliminary data provided by the analysts from ITResearch, 23.9 thousand projectors in the amount of 26.6 thousand dollars were sold in Q2 2018 in Russia. Indicators of the same period last year were exceeded by 22.3% in quantitative terms and by 13.4% in monetary terms. This is one of the best trends among all the previous market observations.

The monitor market showed growth in the first half of 2018.

According to preliminary data provided by the analysts from ITResearch, 675 thousand monitors were sold in Q2 2018 in Russia. In annual terms, the market grew by less than 1%, but in this case, any growth is important. In total, 1,305 thousand monitors were sold in the first half of this year (according to preliminary data). The year-on-year growth was about 9.2%.
