MERLION becomes Western Digital’s official distributor

The Western Digital Corporation and the MERLION company announce a signature of an official cooperation agreement. MERLION’s Russian partners in all the regions now dispose of a full variety of the vendor’s production and of all Western Digital partners support programs.

The MERLION company, a first-rate Russian computer equipment and consumables distributor, and the Western Digital corporation, the world leader in data storage, have announced the start of their official cooperation. The “official distributor” status supposes MERLION’s being authorized in the whole specter of the manufacturer’s production.

Until recently, 5 companies possessed the status of Western Digital’s official distributors in Russia: Airton, Elko, Formoza, Kvazar-Micro, and Millennium Distribution.

According to Igor Frolikov, the Western Digital’s general Russia and CIS states manager, the choosing of a new distributor is explained with the fact that MERLION’s work scheme corresponds most to Western Digital’s strategy of developing its channels in Russia.
“The strategy of developing our channels is committed to one purpose, that is, to make the products most close to the final consumers: assemblers and retail stores. With such companies MERLION has been cooperating successfully and for a long time. MERLION’s sales scheme allows to avoid additional parts in the “vendor – distributor – assembler/retail store” chain, and a wide partner network which the company possesses in the regions allows to provide a greater accessibility of Western Digital’s products to Russian consumers”.

Making comments on the agreement signed, Nikolai Artemenko, MERLION general director, noticed the following, “We have been taking on the production of the American Western Digital corporation for a long time and we are glad that our relationships have reached a qualitatively new level now. I’m sure we shall be able to provide the vendor with well-developed sales channels and with powerful marketing support he counts on.
A direct support of the vendor will allow MERLION to improve the regional accessibility of Western Digital’s products and to sustain their regular availability on our regional stores and those of the partner companies.”

For MERLION’s Russian partners the signing of an official agreement between the companies means a widening of Western Digital’s products’ assortment towards more complicated and expensive models, as well as an opportunity to take part in second-level Western Digital partner support programs. The full-featured guarantee support of Western Digital products will be conserved.

For big corporative MERLION’s clients, the “Official Western Digital distributor in Russia” status will provide the availability of any necessary amount of manufacturer’s hard drives and special prices for participating in tenders.
