MERLION and NETGEAR announce transfer of the cooperation onto the radically new level

MERLION becomes the Official Distributor of NETGEAR.

Moscow, November 19, 2009. Today MERLION (www.merlion.com) and NETGEAR (www.netgear.ru) announced signing of the Distribution Agreement, according to which MERLION gains the right to purchase NETGEAR equipment directly from the manufacturer and distribute it on the territory of the RF. Up to this day MERLION was a NETGEAR’s secondary level partner for several months.

MERLION will significantly strengthen NETGEAR sales network, first of all in the central region (65 % of NETGEAR sales by MERLION are concentrated in Moscow).
The Head of the NETGEAR Representation in Russia Dmitry Tanyukhin commented upon expansion of the cooperation as follows: “For NETGEAR signing of this agreement is a serious step. MERLION is one of the recognized distribution leaders and transfer of the cooperation to the new level will let us significantly broaden partner network and increase the amount of sales in general. We expect that sales through MERLION channels will increase not less than three times during a year. It is utterly important for us that MERLION has several business lines – its own strong retail, project distribution, infrastructural IT solutions. It will allow to sell successfully all range of our products designed as for the final consumer so for SMB companies”.

With signing of the distribution agreement MERLION’s product portfolio becomes more complete and first of all by virtue of NETGEAR’s data storage systems designed for SMB. Direct cooperation will allow MERLION to respond quickly to the needs of its partners, to maintain balanced warehouse, develop sales into retail networks, including into its own - POSITRONICA and CITILINK, where these products happened to be in great demand.

Data storage systems are now in the highest demand, and NETGEAR is very strong in it. New model Stora is worth mentioning – we plan to promote it actively as a retail product. Purchase activities will affect not only the range of products. By virtue of sub-distributors and retailers the circle of partners purchasing NETGEAR at MERLION’s will substantially expand. Besides, more opportunities will appear for development of the sales channel, holding of local marketing activities as for the partners so for the final consumer.

“MERLION plans to promote actively NETGEAR products upon tight cooperation with our partners: we will enable demo-funds, carry out special marketing events and training, render assistance to the partners participating in tenders in respect of the NETGEAR equipment. Besides, we expect to use promotion opportunities to the max in the retail and our own stores POSITRONICA and CITILINK” – Sergey Raskolov said.

By virtue of cooperation NETGEAR expects increase of its market share in general and, first of all, in segments of data storage systems and wireless equipment. It corresponds to the NETGEAR strategy in Russia. Network storages are the key and the most fast-growing product line of NETGEAR; wireless solutions are also winning their market share in Russia. Besides, NETGEAR expects increase of recognition of its brands among Russian IT companies and also increase of confidence in it due to MERLION’s work.

Transfer on to the new level of cooperation with MERLION will indeed positively influence NETGEAR growth in Russia. In the nearest year the company expects significant increase of the sales amount.
