MERLION ranked 28.
The Forbes Magazine (N. 10, October 2011) has unveiled its annual rating of "200 Largest Private Companies in Russia". This year, MERLION was ranked 28, rising 16 positions above within a year (note: in 2009, it was ranked 44).
The rating included companies whose shares are not present in the stock market. Companies were ranked according to the revenue received by them in 2010. Information provided officially to Forbes magazine by companies was used in the ranking.
"MERLION began its activities in 1992 as a distributor of computer components and by mid 2000s was the largest company in its market. In 2006, the company began developing retail business. It first opened a franchise chain of "POZITRONIKA" electronics stores, and in 2008 - an electronic discounter CITILINK. The company engaged in system integration, opening MERLION Projects. In 2010, CITILINK entered other regions, opening stores in four big cities each with over a million in population. The number of "POZITRONIKA" stores reached 200 in 160 cities. This year, MERLION completed the acquisition of business group Verysell Group of Companies", Forbes wrote.
It should be noted that this is the seventh time Forbes is publishing a rating of the largest private companies in Russia, and all these years MERLION has always been in the Top 50.
