MERLION, as the official distributor, starts direct supplies of copying and printing devices, as well as original Canon consumables to Kazakhstan.
MERLION announces expansion of cooperation with Canon. The parties signed an agreement giving the MERLION’s Almaty office a status of “Official distributor of Canon in Kazakhstan”. The agreement is already in force and is of unlimited duration. According to the received status, MERLION begins to directly supply the following Canon devices to the Republic of Kazakhstan: inkjet and laser printers, scanners, color and black/white copiers. The distribution also extends to original consumables for printing and copying devices (cartridges, paper) and office supplies such as calculators.
It is to be recalled that MERLION opened an office in Kazakhstan last summer (as a result of the acquisition of Verysell Distribution in July 2011). A new MERLION’s warehouse has opened in the city center in May 2012, which became one of the largest distribution warehouse in the Kazakhstan IT market (over 1,400 square meters). New logistics capabilities enabled MERLION to significantly enhance not only the product portfolio and partner services, but also to strengthen marketing support aimed at both the partners and end consumers.
MERLION’s distribution business is being successfully developed in Kazakhstan, and according to Victoria Tarantina, MERLION’s Director of Business Development in CIS countries, a new distribution contract will be an important step in achieving the company's ambitious plans to become a distributor number one in Kazakhstan and elsewhere in Central Asia.

We have received over 20 new distribution statuses; have signed contracts with nearly all of the key business partners, thereby striving to the goals established – to be the market leader in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. This cooperation is very important for us, and it is in a strategic direction for us - working with retail. In addition, the Canon product line includes many solutions for the corporate business segment, in which we also see a good business prospect for ourselves. This manufacturer’s equipment is distinguished by the maximum degree of reliability, and it is deservedly popular with partners and customers. Meanwhile, these solutions have excellent quality-price ratio, which retains their acceptable marginality and makes them attractive to build a business by distributors and partners”, - says Victoria.
MERLION expects that the new level of cooperation with Canon will enable the distributor to dramatically expand opportunities for partners. This is a guaranteed vendor’s products stock status (both popular models and fresh new products), competitive prices, sales support, and sales staff training. MERLION expects to continue expand its partnership with Canon in Kazakhstan next year, and to include Canon photo and video equipment in the distribution contract.
It is to be noted that today MERLION is making deliveries of 55 vendors’ hardware and software to Kazakhstan and is rapidly expanding the number of distribution contracts.
