All of Brocade’s network equipment and software are now in MERLION’s portfolio.

The leading Russian broadline distributor MERLION, actively developing its VAD business, and a top maker of solutions for data storage and processing infrastructures Brocade signed a distribution agreement. The Russian company will now promote Brocade’s equipment and software on the Russian market.

Brocade is one of the largest developers and manufacturers of hardware and software for data storage and transfer networks. Its technologies in many ways set the standard for performance and reliability of modern data centers, leading Internet providers and network infrastructures of large corporations.

For instance, Brocade’s flagship router NetIron MLX/MLXe is the best performer among multi-functional devices for enterprise and operator networks. It operates at 15 TB/sec speed and can send up to 7.6 billion data packages per second. Brocade has also developed the world’s first FFibre Channel switch and a director-class device, which solidified its status as a leading manufacturer of systems connecting servers and data storage. Brocade’s director switches are widely used for critical task processing in SAN.

To make local data processing centers more effective, Brocade One technology was developed. It not only increases bandwidth but greatly simplifies network architecture. Brocade’s Virtual Cluster Switching (VCS) technology consolidates network device management and balances load on channels, while Brocade Direct Routing uses hardware to route user traffic on line cards without a separate control module.

The distribution agreement with MERLION clearly shows Brocade’s interest in the Russian market, which despite difficult economic circumstances tries to modernize companies’ network infrastructures and create effective data processing centers.

“Partnership with MERLION, the company which has numerous channels for promoting complex IT solutions, is an attempt on our part to improve our position in Russia as a technological leader, and achieve a new level of presence in this region overall,” said Ivan Iashagashvili, General Director, Brocade Russia and C.I.S. “Our long-term objective is to become a key partner of Russian commercial and public organizations seeking to create modern IT infrastructures and data storage. Our and MERLION’s state-of-the-art technologies are sure to help not only particular companies but the country’s economy as a whole.”

“Now that many countries try to keep data processing and storage within their borders, there will be a growing interest in creating high-performing, reliable data centers in Russia,” said Denis Maltsev, Director for Strategic Marketing and Business Development, MERLION. “The government wants to go online, business wants to maximize competitive advantage with streamlined IT, so the expectations for Brocade in Russia are good. Of course, complex decisions are not easy to promote, but MERLION has always managed to, because we always support projects by our integrator partners.”
