German OBO chose MERLION for a long-term partner.
The largest broadline distributor in Russia and one of the country’s chief VAD distributors MERLION signed a distribution agreement with a leading European maker of engineering equipment – OBO Bettermann.
OBO Bettermann has worked on the international market for over a hundred years and earned a reputation for high-quality equipment, suitable for tasks of any complexity. The company’s seven manufacturing divisions produce more than 30 000 different items so that customers can find the solution to their particular problem. Its products range from engineering systems for cabling at various heights and fastening elements to lightning and overvoltage protections, fire-suppressing materials, wiring.
The company came to the Russian market in 2003. Currently it has 11 offices in the best-developing regions of the country and depots in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
OBO Bettermann’s officers say the company has always tried to reach new distribution horizons, which is possible only with tried and true partners – and MERLION certainly fits the profile. The Russian distributions tops the charts in comprehensive distribution on the IT market, it is one of Russia’s largest enterprises. OBO Bettermann is confident of MERLION’s ability to develop its business and hopes for close collaboration in Russia. The German companies chooses its partners scrupulously because its reputation in many ways depends on distributors, and MERLION stands every chance of becoming a long-term ally.
The agreement with MERLION coincides with active development of OBO’s Russian venture. The company is planning to open a manufacturing facility here this year – specifically, in Lipetsk oblast – to respond to market demand for high-quality electrical and engineering equipment. The plant will produce cable-carrying systems, lightning and overvoltage protections and fixtures.
Opening a Russian factory and signing a distribution contract with MERLION for OBO are two steps towards greater flexibility in logistics, pricing and project planning.
