Only desktops show growth on the Russian PC market
The ITResearch analytical company has announced results of the first 6 months of the year 2016 on the Russian PC market. The overall market of computers (both desktop and laptop PC) amounted over the first half of the year to 1,924 thousand pcs., which is 0.7% more than the corresponding figure for the same period of last year. For the first time in years, the market has left the state of recession, though it is still too soon to speak of growth. Different constituents of the Russian PC market showed inconsistent results. E.g., desktops have risen by 4.8%. The market of laptops remains in the red; their sales have fallen by 2.5%, though, compared to last year’s 45% slump, this can be seen as a remarkable progress. In the sub-segment of all-in-one PC, the sales are falling, with just 107 thousand units sold over the first 6 months, which is 7.4% worse than the sales of the same period of 2015.
In August, the market of monitors rose sharply
According to the ITResearch analysts, in August of 2016, about 220 thousand monitors worth USD 35.5 mln were sold on the Russian market. This is a growth of about 30% from the clearly poor July figures. On a year-on-year basis, the growth was also quite impressive: about 32% from August, 2015.
The segment of larger tablets is enjoying renaissance
According to the ITResearch analytical company, over the first 6 months of 2016, the Russian market of tablet computers has managed to enter the positive zone with a slight margin (1.6% in physical terms). Of course, after last year’s disastrous results, this does not seem to be a significant achievement, yet the 21% growth in monetary terms gives cause for reflection on the driving forces behind the change.
As the ITResearch experts explain, the recent growth is caused by a serious structural transformation of the market of tablets, namely, a strong surge in the demand for larger tablets. The segment of devices with 9.7” and larger screens has risen by 74% in physical terms over the period under consideration.
Traditional three-phase UPS are more popular than modular ones as yet
As suggested by the study of the Russian market of UPS, in its heavier segment, modular systems are observed to gain popularity. However, they are still more expensive than the “classical” three-phase UPS, while their key advantages are not always sought after in small scale systems, which do not tend to expand capacity very fast. Therefore, the market significance of “standard” UPS remains quite considerable; these still make the bulk of shipments in the heavier segment. According to the ITResearch analysts, the classical 10 to 100 kV*A models account for about 60% of the entire range of three-phase UPS. Here, not all the power modifications are equally popular. The best-selling among them are models with the power ratings 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 60 kV*A, which is in line with the breakdown of sales by power ratings that has remained rather stable in recent years.
The Russian hardcopy market has finally started rising
According to the ITResearch analytical company, 978 thousand printers and desktop MFP were sold over the first six months of 2016, i.e., 4.5% up from the same period of 2015. In monetary terms, the market rose by 3.9% to 164.3 mln dollars. The entire growth was accounted for by multifunctional printers, which provided about two thirds of sales, both in physical and monetary terms, over the six-month period.
IDC gives a very optimistic assessment of the Russian hardcopy market
According to results of studies held by IDC, in the second quarter of 2016, the Russian market of printing devices rose by 37.3% compared to the same period of 2015 to 503,855 units*, or by 32.0% to USD 103.3 mln in monetary terms. In the total sales, laser equipment accounted for about 385,258 units, including 245 162 MFP, while the number of sold ink-jet devices made just over 117 thousand, most of them (nearly 96 thousand units) being multifunctional. At the same time, the market average price of a device in US dollars fell by 3.9 compared to the second quarter of 2015.
The market of projectors has shown the strongest growth this year
According to the ITResearch analytical company, in August of 2016, the Russian market of projectors saw the sales of about 9.3 thousand units worth 8.4 million dollars. Compared to July, the market gained about 40%, which is the largest monthly increment this year. The year-on-year performance is also very impressive – about 45% rise that has gone beyond all the forecasts.
