29 september 2016

At the event, including the MERLION stand, unique computer solutions created with participation of the leading Russian and international developers were presented.

MERLION, one of Russia’s leading VAD-distribution companies, supported the “Internet of Things” Forum, Russia’s largest specialized event dedicated to the key directions of development of Digital Economy, which was held on September 22.

The forum brought together over five hundred participants including representatives of the Federation Council and other state agencies affecting development of Russia’s IT industry, as well as the major specialized IT associations and renowned Russian and foreign companies creating solutions in the field of the Internet of Things.

Displayed on the MERLION stand were advanced Intel micro- and mini-computers – Intel Compute Stick and Intel NUC, which enable to create “smart” IT-infrastructure, in particular, for visualization of advertising and reference information. Here, data is output on screens and other media with consideration of not only various statistics, but also information on the viewer (a customer of a shop, shipping or service company), which is processed in real time. Specifics of application of solutions of this kind in Russian retail chains and shipping companies were discussed at the “Internet of Things for Integrators” section held with support from Intel and MERLION.

Within the Forum, a news conference was organized on possibilities of the third version of the Tizen operating system used for construction of secure infrastructure based on technologies of the Internet of Things. The media community and IT experts were demonstrated the world’s first commercially produced tablet with pre-installed OS Tizen 3.0 – an 8” screen Digma mobile computer. Owing to use of OS Tizen in the commercial version of the Digma tablet (with MERLIN being the exclusive distributor of the Digma brand products in Russia), the government and commercial structures are now able to use a reliable, proven solution in fields, where particularly strict requirements are imposed to security of operation of applications and data storage.

Among other Russian developments presented at the Forum, one should mention iRU all-in-one PC based on Linux. Such computer solutions with characteristics customized according to requirements of public contractors were demonstrated on the stand of the MERLION company.

Participants of the “Internet of Things” Forum praised the high level of the representatives, of both the business community and research, government and other non-profit organizations. The experts who represented Russian and foreign companies at the Forum, including participants of the “Internet of Things for System Integration” section, point out that the Internet of Things is developing towards creating solutions much needed to the business, which would enable to take the maximum advantage of devices united in a local or global network – whether this is about complex equipment or individual elemental sensors. IT experts are confident that suitable niches will be found in the Internet of Things both for hardware manufacturers, designers of software platforms, developers of cloud services and integrators. As for the ultimate goal of the IT community engaged in development of the Internet of Things, this lies in creating industry-specific solutions that would be customer-friendly and easy to implement and operate, and that will enable the customer to have a considerable boost for business development.
