Russia’s market of laptops shows mixed results
According to ITResearch analysts, in October, the sales on Russia’s laptop market shrank by as much as 23% from September to make about 290 thousand units. However, on a year-on-year basis, the market grew by 7% relative to September of 2015. This is due to the fact that the end of last year was a hard time for the market, so what we are having now is comparison to a negative reference period.
ITResearch: Russia’s laptop market showed a 9% decline in QIII, 2016
According to ITResearch analysts, the sales on Russia’s laptop market in QIII, 2016, amounted to 865 thousand units worth 32.8 billion rubles. The weighted-average price of a laptop was 37.8 thousand rubles. Compared to QIII, 2015, the market fell by 8.7% in physical terms. It is worth noting that ITresearch reported the same dynamics in the previous second quarter. In all, 1920 thousand units were sold in three quarters, which is 5.4% below the figures of the same period of last year.
The recovery of the market of monitors slows down
According to ITResearch analysts, in October of 2016, Russia's market saw sales of about 235 thousand monitors worth 38.6 million dollars. On the year-on-year basis, a growth of about 10.5% was reported, which is comparable to the September performance, though considerably below the August figures. These growth rates are exactly in line with forecasts of ITResearch analysts, who anticipated a slight decline in October due to a shortage of products. At the same time, the experts believe that the last two months of 2016 will still be better than the same months of last year.
Russia’s LFD market skyrockets
According to ITResearch analysts, 9 thousand information panels were sold in Russia in QIII, 2016 (LFD, commercial displays larger than 32”, excluding PC monitors). Overall sales reached about 30 mln dollars. The weighted-average per unit price was 3.3 thousand dollars. The year-on-year dynamics (compared to QIII, 2015) is quite impressive: an increment of 52% in physical terms, and 81% in monetary terms. As ITResearch experts explain, the third quarter of last year was the only failed quarter of 2015, which means that the abnormally high figures of year-on-year growth are due to the low reference level. However, even if the growth persists, its rates will be several times smaller, as the 4th quarter of 2015 produced rather strong results.
ITResearch notes a significant growth of prices on Russia’s hardcopy market
According to ITResearch analysts, Russia’s market of printers and desktop MFP experienced a considerable growth of average retail prices in the 3rd quarter of 2016. In principle, the trend was reported as early as six months ago, yet it became more noticeable in the past quarter.
Russia’s hardcopy market is shrinking as the consumer segment declines
According to research conducted by IDC, in the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s market of printing devices shrank by 22.1% compared to the same period of 2015, down to 568 603 units, or by 3.0% (to 122.78 mln USD) in monetary terms. Among the total sales, laser devices accounted for about 380 734 devices, including 223 010 multifunctional devices. The number of sold inkjet devices amounted to 184 618 units, of which most are multifunctional (145 835 units). At the same time, the market average price of a device rose by 24.6% compared to QIII, 2015.
Russia’s market of UPS keeps growing
According to ITResearch analysts, in the 3rd quarter of 2016, more than 290 thousand devices of different classes worth 83.2 mln USD were sold on Russia’s market. Compared to the previous quarter, the market rose by impressive 17% in physical terms, and by 29% in monetary terms. On a year-on-year basis (compared to QIII, 2015), the UPS market has grown, as well. Though the growth was less than 2% in physical terms, in monetary terms it amounted to 16%. The deviation between the dynamics of physical and monetary figures is due to the fact that there was a faster growth in the infrastructure segment, which caused a sharp rise in the weighted-average price of a UPS (up to the record high 285 USD).
