Lenovo expects to make Motorola one of the most popular and sought-after brands in Russia through a partnership with MERLION.
Lenovo brings the famous Motorola brand back to Russia. The company has made the brand one of the most popular and sought-after brands in our country, and plans to use it for further promotion of its smartphones. MERLION, the largest Broadline Distributor on the Russian market and one of the leaders in VAD-distribution, signs a distribution agreement with one of the world's leading manufacturers of mobile devices Lenovo to promote Motorola smartphones. The agreement comes into force in July 2017 and gives MERLION the status of "Official distributor of Motorola in Russia".
Lenovo and MERLION share many years of successful cooperation. MERLION has been the official distributor of Lenovo’s PCs, laptops and tablets since July 2008. The company’s products are among the most sought-after in the portfolio of the Russian distributor.
The Motorola brand, which has previously gained immense popularity within our country, is taking on new significance. Innovative development and high build quality provided by Lenovo's mobile division, along with the capabilities of MERLION (the most powerful sales channel combining the corporate segment, as well as the largest retail federal and regional networks, dealers and resellers), will ensure for Motorola brand excellent positions in global and Russian markets.
MERLION intends to strengthen its position in the mobile telephony market and expects a growing turnaround in Q2. "This market niche is one of the most stable and promising for the leaders of the distribution industry. Despite all the crises, it demonstrates a YoY growth in terms of both pieces (9%) and money (12%). The segment trends include an increased competition among manufacturers resulting in growing confidence and market share of the most famous brands. This is a Motorola brand, the flagship of mobile telephony, which for many years has been a trendsetter in design and innovation technologies," says Tatyana Skokova, distribution director of the MERLION division "Broadline distribution".
The popularity of the Motorola brand, backed by strategic partnership of MERLION and Lenovo, indicates the revival of the flagship brand, which is very likely to gain leadership positions in the Russian market.
