Together with 3M Company (MMM) experts, the distributor’s specialists discussed the advantages and perspectives of ecological approaches to city infrastructure development.
The largest Broadline Distributor MERLION took part in a round table discussion on ecological issues in construction that was organized by 3M Company (MMM). The event “Green Construction as a Measure to Improve the Environmental Situation” brought together Russian architects, designers, representatives of architectural bureaus, and project institutes and served as a platform for sharing experience and knowledge on green construction in Russia.
MERLION presented a report dealing with the advantages of fiber-optic cable infrastructure over the traditional network solutions on the copper cable basis. The economy of energy resources and, consequently, harmful emission reduction begin at the production stage: to produce a copper cable one has to use 11 times as much energy as to make a fiber-optic cable. Besides, for developing and servicing copper cable network infrastructure business allocates on average 70% more funds than for a fiber-optic network.
Today projects of urban renovation are an important area of green construction development. The world ecological standards, which are being used now to construct a number of Russian objects, including IC Skolkovo, can serve as a basis for effective construction and further servicing of buildings in the capital and regions.
