Aleksey Sonk leaves the position of President at MERLION, effective March 1, 2007. The position of President is eliminated. The functions shift to the key company’s managers.
Effective March 1, Aleksey Sonk leaves his position as President of MERLION. He will however continue to be a member of the Board of Directors and take part in company management as a strategic expert.
Aleksey Sonk has been in charge of the company for 6 years, since the establishment of LC-group on April 1, 2000 (renamed MERLION on January 1, 2004). In October 2006, Aleksey Sonk was named one of the best executives in the Russian IT market.
The president claimed that a motivating factor in the decision to give up his operational management role was his desire to focus on projects which are not connected with IT product distribution. “A clear strategy, stable and leading market position and a great expertise of the top managers at MERLION make it possible to delegate the necessary authority to the company team. MERLION is doing well now and going to enhance its traditional business such as wide-range distribution and joint projects,” said Aleksey Sonk.
The Board of directors will decide to eliminate the position of president in the company hierarchy. The functions will be split between the TOP managers.
