MERLION and Intel review the results of the first year of their partnership and outline prospects of further development of the business.
A little more than a year has passed since an official agreement of partnership was signed between MERLION, the Russia’s leading distributor of computer and digital equipment, and Intel, the world’s top manufacturer of innovative semiconductor components. A year after that, the two parties sum up the first results of their cooperation.
Over a year in its status of “official distributor”, MERLION has more than doubled the sales of Intel products (mostly, processors) through the MERLION channel.
Since the beginning of 2007, Intel products were purchased from MERLION by 80% of the company’s active partners. Among MERLION’s partners in Intel products are IT companies of a variety of profiles: federal and regional networks, system integrators, resellers, retailers of computer equipment. The geography of purchasers covers 180 cities and towns from all the regions of the Russian Federation.
Following the first three quarters of 2007, these are Moscow and Moscow Region, which account for the bulk of the sales: 38%. The Volga, South, North-West and Central federal districts have shown an evenly distributed sales pattern, each having an average of 8%. The Urals, Siberia and the Far East have delivered slightly lower results: 5.3%, 6.5% and 3.5%, respectively. The CIS member states account for a considerable share in sales of Intel products through the MERLION channel: 14.5 %.
In the season to come, cooperation with Intel will remain one of the points of further development for the MERLION business. The company is planning a significant expansion of Intel product lines, in particular, with the manufacturer’s server components and server motherboards. The distributor will focus on promoting the manufacturer's processors and motherboards. Efficient logistics and considerable amounts of purchased products make it possible for MERLION to ensure availability of a broad range of Intel products at competitive prices.
The company will stay the course of intense development of sales of the world’s renowned manufacturer in the regions, with a particular emphasis to be made on partners from Siberia, the Urals and the Far East. In the existing sales channels, top priority will be given to regional PC assemblers and system integrators.
In the current season, various forms of marketing support are provided for MERLION partners, including a marketing campaign on the manufacturer’s processors.
For interaction with the vendor to become more efficient, a special structural unit – the Intel Team - has been formed within the MERLION's Purchase Department.
